A doctor is a medical professional who has completed the education and training needed to diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries in patients. During an examination, doctors gather information from patients about symptoms, lifestyle factors, and family history to assess their overall health and develop a treatment plan. Doctors often prescribe medication and/or surgical interventions, educate patients about their condition, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for their patients.
While it’s a huge compliment to be called “Dr.”, the title can be misleading. Many people who use this title do not hold an MD and, in fact, do not even practice medicine at all. This can cause confusion when it comes to patient safety, as some people who are incorrectly referred to as doctors may be unable to properly address patients’ medical needs.
Doctors may be found in a wide range of settings, including community health centres and hospitals. Some focus on specific areas, such as obstetrics and gynaecology, gastroenterology, or neurology. Others are specialised in the treatment of diseases, such as cancer or leukaemia.
While he only got to play the role for one TV movie and one web-only episode, Paul McGann’s eccentric Doctor was a big hit with fans. This version of the Time Lord had a more ruggedly handsome appearance than his predecessors and was able to switch between comedic and serious on a dime, adding a hint of romance to the role that’s been missing from other incarnations.
